A member of Japan Noh association and public incorporated foundation of Noh-gaku
Born in March 1949 as a third son of Hashimoto niichiro
Taught by his father Hashimoto Jin-ichiro, his first performance on a stage was when he was 3 and he played a main character of Noh (Shite) when he was 10. He arranged noh-performer organization with his first older brother, Masao and his second older brother, Isomichi and have performed Noh together. He is also a president of Hashimotoseiginsha and is one of the notable Noh-performer inKyoto.
Kanzeryu is one of Noh performance styles which is based on Yuzakiza, a prominent group of Sarugaku in Nanbokucho period, Nara. Kan ami kiyotsugu(1333-1384) is a founder of Kanzeryu and also belonged to Yuzakiza as a mainperformer. Kan ami performed in Kyoto and was praised by the third Muromachi Shogunate, Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. His performance became popular throughout Japan under the protection of Yoshimitsu.
Noh in Kanzeza absorbed an noble culture in Kyoto while being enriched by Kan ami and his son, Zeami. After Kan ami’s death, Zeami became the second main performer and established a unique performance style, Mugennoh. He also had a sophisticated sense of writing essay, as he published a book named Fushikaden. Zeami enhanced the value of Noh by looking it as a philosophical art. In recent days, he is respected by many people not only in Japan but also all over the world.
