What are Ninja and Ninjutsu? All your questions answered by a ninjutsu expert!
President of the Banke Shinobi no Den Kenshujo
Profile
Born in Kyoto city in 1964, Yasushi Kiyomoto began his study of Koga Shinobi No Den under Soke Kawakami Jinichi when he was 16 years old. At Banke Shinobi no Den Kenshujo, which was established in 2002, Mr. Kiyomoto teaches students ninjutsu that can be used in modern times as well as a variety of self-defense arts which are taught through Koga Ryu Shinobi no Den, including Josui Ryu Shinto Gunden, Izumo Shin Ryu Heiho, Shinden Fudo Ryu Kiho, Ichijo Fuji Ryu Kyoho, Awaka Chiden Ryu Kamajutsu, and Toda Nagato Ryu Bojutsu.
It is said that the Koga and Iga Ryu schools of ninjutsu are no longer being taught and therefore do not exist in modern society, which is untrue. Mr. Kiyomoto began his study of ninjutsu under Jinichi Kawakami, head of Koga Ryu Banto Shinobi no Den, as a teenager and, as a practitioner, still works to perfect the skills that he has learned even today. What Mr. Kiyomoto has devoted himself to is a form of ninjutsu which focuses on military arts which are transmitted along with other arts by Koga/Iga Ryu Shinobi no Den.
Since it originated, ninjutsu has always been something precious that is kept veiled in secrecy. However, ninjutsu is full of logic and science, meaning that it serves as wisdom of predecessors which can be also be used in modern times.
While learning about what ninjutsu really is, Mr. Kiyomoto will provide you with a more detailed understanding about who the Japanese are and how they live.
